Hello, hello, hello!!!
It’s mid-week again and happy Wednesday! 😀
Since it was our Mid-Autumn Festival, a.k.a. Moon Festival, last Friday, we got a short holiday back then and I managed to do nothing except sleeping, eating, reading, repeat. LOL Better yet, I’ll be taking this Friday off (that’s 2 days from now!) and spend some quality time with my family while celebrating my grandma’s birthday at a lovely resort in the Eastern part of the island. ❤ *Eeeeps*
Hence, I’m feeling kinda high all week long despite the fact that I’ve been working nonstop for weeks lately. 😛 Anyways, it’s 1:30 in the morning and here I am, sharing an upcoming graphic novel featuring the most classic female character/author, Charlotte Brontë and her life before Jane Eyre…at least that’s what the title implies.
All right, folks! Fasten your seatbelts and let the ride begin!
Hello, lovely people!
How’s your day so far? In case anyone’s curious, I started writing this unboxing post on Aug. 11th, right after having our typhoon holiday but then I sort of forgot to schedule so here I am again, picking up where the post’s left one week later. Anyway, last week was as busy as I expected and guess what? It’s Sunday night and just thinking about having to go to work tomorrow exhausts me, haha.
Busy working schedule aside, I’ve done a wee bit too much bookish shopping on impulse in the past few days and I…regret nothing. LOL I’ll make sure to share with you my latest treasure hunt. 🙂 For today’s unboxing, it’s my second OwlCrate box, a monthly subscription box featuring the hottest YA book (always signed by the author and with an exclusive cover) and some goodies going along with the theme, and as usual, I enjoy unboxing it and getting surprised by the items inside. 😀
Without further ado, let the OwlCrate unboxing party begin!
How’s your holidays going?
I hope you are having a fantastic time because y’all deserve it! 😀
Today, I’m going to bring you my latest book review for an upcoming release from the author of You’ll Miss Me When I’m Gone, Rachel Lynn Solomon, which will be out on January 15th, 2019. She’s known for lots of Jewish references and voices of people with different cultural backgrounds, so this time, I’m excited to read Our Year of Maybe since the blurb looks intriguing.
Are you ready to join this journey with me?

Dark YA romance with a criminal twist – Circus Hearts: Step. Right. Up.
Hey guys!!! *waving enthusiastically*
How are you? I hope you’re having a fabulous day. Today I’ve got something really exciting to share with you and believe me, I’ve wanted to tell everyone about this super duper exhilarating book news since I learnt about it last week. 😀
First of all, I’m so honored to be offered a chance to announce the title for one of my all-time-favorite authors, Thomas Welsh‘s (author of Anna Undreaming), upcoming book, the sequel to Anna Undreaming. When he reached out to me via email last Tuesday, I, honestly, was
secretly doing happy dancing in an office with 100 people. LOL
Back to this title announcement, all I can say is that the title and official blurb of the book will definitely prompt you to devour the series. Trust me, I can already feel the epicness of book 2 in Metiks Fade trilogy simply by its title! And my instinct is usually right. 😉
Alright, enough rambling and let’s cut to the chase, shall we?
They say roses are the most beautiful…
Gin Fielding is counting the days until she escapes the small-town life of Roper, Missouri for college at NYU. She prefers to blend in, though she’s far from invisible. But when she protects a younger student from a bully, the spotlight turns on her in ways she never imagined.
I say that every rose has its thorn…
The Friday night lights shine bright on Chase Matthews. Roper’s golden boy, Chase can do no wrong, enjoying the small-town celebrity being the star quarterback brings. When Gin defends his little sister against a bully, he decides to lend her his star power and change her senior year in ways she never imagined.
But maybe the thorns are part of their beauty.
When Gin declines Chase’s invitation to be part of the elite Sweet Sixteen, the repercussions turn both their lives upside down. But amidst the chaos, Gin and Chase find solace in one another. Together, they confront the ugly truth– that sometimes glory has a dark side.
***Warning–Sweet Sixteen is an upper YA book with mature themes and is intended for readers 18+.

A resourceful boy takes a glowing sailboat across the stars to search for his long-missing parents and becomes the target of pirates and an evil cabal with a sinister agenda.
Twelve-year-old Jake Flynn’s parents disappeared when he was a baby. On his twelfth birthday, the mystery of why his parent’s disappeared begins to unravel for he discovers a glowing talisman with a message from his father.
Jake is directed to a derelict sailboat, and he watches in awe as the talisman magically knits ropes and sails for it out of golden energy. Awash in light, the boat sails up into space, and the voyages of Jake Flynn begin.
During his quest to find his parents, Jake will encounter space pirates in tall sailing ships, channelers that can wield energy like magic, and evil cabalists led by a sinister snake-woman. Assisted by a young healer and her aged protector, a spirited cabin girl and salty space captain, Jake learns that he can too channel, and that he is central to stopping the cabalists from resurrecting a long-dead evil.
Puzzles, a pirate asteroid, walking the plank, fantastic magic, trapped treasure caves, multiple planets, and great ship battles – Jake must experience them all on this epic adventure. By the end, he will discover the truth of his destiny, understand that family transcends blood lines, and find that his own needs are sometimes less important than those of others.
