Blog Tour: A Five-Minute Life by Emma Scott

blog tour banner-2

45876331Remember us…when I can’t.

Thea Hughes has five minutes to live.

A car accident stole her parents and left her with the second-worst documented case of amnesia in the world. She now has only minutes of experiences, of consciousness, of life…before her memory is wiped clean. The once effervescent artist with a promising future is reduced to scribbling with pens and paper, living an empty, quiet life, three hundred seconds at a time.

Jim Whelan is on autopilot.

A foster kid shuffled around the system since birth, he’s lived his entire life without knowing love…and it’s taken its toll—until he learned to fight back, carry his armor, and keep his head down.

Working as an orderly in the Blue Ridge Sanitarium, deep in Virginia countryside, Jim looked up…and found Thea.

When Thea has the chance to break free of her five-minute prison with a risky, experimental surgery, it could lead them both to an epic love they never thought possible… or one that could require the ultimate sacrifice.

Bookish Unboxing | Books that Matter April: Black Women’s History Month (+why this is my last box from them)

Hello, hello, hello!

It’s just the beginning of May and the month’s been promising already. Well…at least on my bookish notes. 😛

To begin with, bookish subscription boxes have been my ultimate kryptonite since I started trying out some of them and now I’m officially, uncontrollably, helplessly obsessed with them. As you can see, I’ve got a brand-new section on my blog dedicating to all the future bookish unboxing posts. THAT is the proof of my wholeheartedness. LOL

Therefore, please let me present you with my second and unfortunately, last box from Books that Matter, an U.K.-based bookish subscription box company. Don’t get me wrong; I’m still satisfied with everything in their boxes, but due to some personal reasons (I’ll elaborate later in the post), I won’t place any order from them.

Hey, guys!

Read-to-Review: Off the Record by Taylor Danae Colbert

44555542“Dax Thatcher?” I ask. “But isn’t he sorta. . .old?”

Ugh. Celebrities. I mean, I know I took a job as a reporter for the Celebrity and Pop Culture department of our magazine, but it was just supposed to be a stepping stone to the more real stuff.

Despite the fact that Dax Thatcher was the subject of many of my teen fantasies—and I may or may not have an entire playlist made up of his music—he’s still just another star.

Until his golden eyes pierce through me that day on his Malibu deck. I find myself having dinner with him, going backstage with him, lying on the beach with him. I find myself telling him my deepest secrets, and diving deep into his less-than-perfect past.

And then I remember my assignment: a four-issue feature on Dax Thatcher. . .and his supermodel fiancée. Yep, he’s getting hitched.

I have to focus. I’m a serious journalist, and he is mere months from walking down the aisle with someone else. But that doesn’t stop me from wondering what those tattooed arms might feel like wrapped around me, or how soft the sheets on his California king bed are.

Yikes. This celebrity stuff might be a little more real than I thought. (From: Goodreads)

Book Blitz: The Boy Who Steals Houses by C. G. Drews (teasers & giveaway)

Hello, people!

I can’t believe it’s already April (why do I always feel this way with each passing month!?) and for my first post this month, I’d like to share another highly coveted book in 2019 with all of you.

The Boy Who Steals Houses by C. G. Drews, the author of A Thousand Perfect Notes, and one of the most influential, popular bookstagrammers, book bloggers, and book reviewers, was released on April 4th, 2019. For those who aren’t familiar with C. G. Drews, she has most of her social media platforms under the handle @PaperFury. If you were into bookish social media, then I’m pretty sure you’ve seen one or two of her posts/pictures/shout-outs since they’re literally EVERYWHERE online. 🙂

Needless to say, I’m super excited about this book not only because it’s categorized as a Young Adult Contemporary, which is my top favorite, but also because of the gorgeousness of the cover AND the intriguing plot. Do you ever have this gut instinct that when you hear a book coming out from someone famous, or sometimes something about an upcoming book just rings a bell for you? And you know immediately that you must have that book? Well, that’s what I feel about both Drews’ books and I guess it’s due to the overall hype around the book community. *shrugs*

Enough rambling! Let’s get this book blitz party started, shall we? ❤

Review: Say Something by Cathy Morrison

42645635

Sometimes the most difficult choice is the only one you can make.

Maggie knows the abuse she endured as a little girl isn’t all that defines her. She’s a strong student, varsity athlete, good person—but she’s careful not to let anyone close. Because letting someone in means risking the truth. And the truth didn’t work so well for her the first time.

Now there’s this great guy. He likes her. He makes her think that maybe, just maybe, she could be normal. She could be happy.

Just when things are getting good, the man who abused her barrels back into her life, and she discovers that another little girl is in danger. She can continue to hide her past—or confront it and risk her hard-won happiness.

She can say something.

*Abuse is NOT depicted in a graphic manner.

Bookish Unboxing | Books that Matter March: Forgotten Women

Hey, guys!

Today, I’m presenting to you another bookish box I tried this month and it’s called Books that Matter. Books that Matter is a rather young, start-up business launching sometime around July/August last year, so everything’s pretty fresh and unheard-of to me. What makes this subscription box stands out is that they feature indie artists, designers, authors, and publishers in their boxes so that everything included represents their endless support for those small yet promising businesses like them.

What’s more, Books that Matter is probably the first and number one FEMINIST subscription box based in the U.K. since all of their products and bookish boxes revolve around discovering new female authors or historical heroines. Anyway, I can’t wait to share what I’ve got in my first Books that Matter box in March, with the theme “Forgotten Women!”

Bookish Unboxing | Fairyloot February Box: Beast and Beauty

Hello, guys!!!

Yep, you read it right! I just received my first ever bookish box two weeks ago and I could barely contain my excitement even talking about it right now!!!!! If you knew me well, you’d know that I’m obsessed with all kinds of bookish unboxing videos, blog posts, and bookstagram feed. To be honest, I’ve been eyeing these book boxes for YEARS, pretty much ever since they came to existence. Hence, color me surprise when I can FINALLY afford one with the money I earned!!! ❤

Long story short, I decided to treat myself with a Fairyloot box partly because I wanted to reward myself in celebration of the hectic yet overall thrilling 2018, considering everything insanely crazy and unbelievably incredible happened last year that totally changed my life, and partly because the February theme was Beast and Beauty, one of my few favorite fairytales of all time. The theme piqued my interest immensely so I placed my order without second thought.

Anyway, let’s get my very first unboxing started, shall we?
